For more than 15 years, Tea2you has built close relationships with tea-growing communities in Darjeeling, India. Through our work in the tea industry, we have seen first-hand the challenges faced by the people and families who make the industry possible.
From supporting medical treatment and education to helping families rebuild after natural disasters, the Foundation exists to turn these relationships into practical, long-term support.
When the roads stop, livelihoods stop too.
In the hills of Darjeeling, heavy monsoon rain can bring devastating landslides and flooding. When roads are damaged or blocked, the impact goes far beyond the immediate destruction.
For many local drivers, the roads are their livelihood.
Our disaster relief work is about helping people bridge that gap — from the moment a disaster happens to the moment they can begin rebuilding their lives.
Helping Drivers Rebuild After Disaster
When landslides occur, roads can become impassable and communities can be cut off. Tea2you provides targeted financial assistance to people whose livelihoods have been directly affected, helping them meet essential needs until they are able to work again.
Where appropriate, support can also contribute towards rebuilding homes and restoring livelihoods after a disaster.
The Women Behind Every Cup
Women play a central role in harvesting and plucking tea. They are at the heart of tea-growing communities. They are the hands that carefully pluck the leaves, often while balancing the responsibilities of raising and supporting their families.
Supporting these communities means looking beyond the tea gardens themselves.
Investing in the Next Generation
Many of the children growing up in tea-growing communities are the sons and daughters of women who work in the gardens. And one way of supporting them is our relationship with St Mary's School in Shimla, Tea2you helps provide educational opportunities for children whose families are connected to the tea industry.
